Hyles-Anderson College

Sieg Heil Hyles-Anderson College is an unaccredited fundamentalist Christian college in Lake County, Indiana. The college is known for creationism, sexism, and homophobia.[1] Hyles-Anderson is modeled after Pensacola Christian College and Bob Jones University in terms of rules and atmosphere. The college is Independent Baptist and requires belief that the Bible is infallible. The school is affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Hammond.[2]

Academics

Because of raging sexism, subjects of indoctrination academics are gender segregated for the most part. Only men are allowed to apply for pastoral programs. Women get wonderful classes such as "Introduction to Cooking", "Preparation for Marriage", "Understanding Your Husband" and "Home Decorating". Degrees and diplomas include: Elementary Education, Secondary Education (both genders can enroll), Pastoral Theology, Assistant Pastoral Studies, and Counseling. There are "Science" minors and education concentrations, too, in biology, physics and mathematics. Legit courses of study have heavy religious preaching crammed into them. On the plus side, teacher education graduates cannot get licensed in any state (be thankful for that).[4]

The faculty of the college have some very impressive credentials from fine schools like Hyles-Anderson College and Bob Jones University, and some less impressive schools such as Ohio State University, Ball State University and the University of Texas.

Accreditation

There is no accreditation whatsoever. Hyles-Anderson College refuses accreditation all together as they do not want government oversight. Now to note-that the government itself does not accredit schools as that is up to third party regulators to do accreditation [5]. At least they are not claiming false accreditation unlike some schools.

The school states:

Hyles-Anderson College has operated free of academic governmental oversight or regulation since its founding in 1972. The Board of Trustees has chosen not to seek regional or national accreditation. The primary reason for this is to avoid the potential of outside influences or pressures to change our theological, doctrinal, and moral positions.

The Board has considered that according to the United States Department of Education, accreditation is a voluntary process, Hyles-Anderson College has elected to exercise this privilege by remaining autonomous.

It is the belief of Hyles-Anderson College and other similar Bible colleges and schools that the best measurement of the effectiveness of the institution is the ministerial success of its graduates. Hyles-Anderson College has provided excellence in education and ministry training since 1972. There are thousands of our graduates faithfully serving the Lord in ministry positions all around the world in large part because of their training at Hyles-Anderson College.[6]
