Book description

In the book the authors reject creationism as unscientific but also reject atheism and instead advocate a form of theistic evolution where God has designed and programmed evolution, which they propose was built into the Big Bang so that the process unfolds over time in a guided formation eventually leading to consciousness.[2] The main claim in the book by the authors is that evolution and a belief in the Christian God is compatible.[3]

The book was released in 2010 in an updated edition in celebration of the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin.[4]

Reception

Some Christians have rejected the book and have written that the position of the authors is in opposition to the Bible. Other reviewers have written that the authors have an interesting model and that it is an important book for anyone interested in theistic evolution.[5][6]

gollark: ... yes, good point.
gollark: I cannot imagine anything more balanced.
gollark: Okay, I have a great balancing idea:- add a very rare ore called Plethorium- make it so that to refine it into ingots you need a special furnace made of clay (clay = balance)- make the kinetic augment cost plethorium blocks- make it use RF to operate
gollark: I don't think it has functionality for that.
gollark: I shall use the power of CraftTweaker to unbalance it! Mwahahahaha!
