Leaky abstraction

Leaky abstraction is an abstraction that leaks details that it is supposed to abstract away[1] From practical common lisp.[2].

If we are to use software as a metaphor for memetics, then as memes build on one another, the abstractions become more amorphous, more fluid, and abstracted, they can increase in complexity.

"As systems become more complex, software developers must rely upon more abstractions."
