Java Edition:Negative Durability Golden Armor
In 24w36a (1.21.2 snapshot), golden armor had the durability of iron armor due to a bug. This allows the golden armor to have higher damage than normal which gives it a negative durability when updated to later versions.
Obtaining
In 24w36a, golden armor has greater durability due to a bug.[1] This durability is equivalent to iron armor's durability. The durabilities are:
| Armor | Normal Durability | 24w36a Durability | Max Negative Obtainable |
|---|---|---|---|
| 77 | 165 | -88 | |
| 112 | 240 | -128 | |
| 105 | 225 | -120 | |
| 91 | 195 | -104 |
The player can wear the golden armor's durability down to 1 by getting damaged while wearing it. The player can also obtain a zero durability of any of the golden armor from mob drops in 24w36a, which allows for one further negative durability. After updating, the golden armor will have its durability decreased to the normal values in the table above but retain the damage count. After updating, the negative durability golden armor will show 0 durability when hovered over with advanced tooltips enabled and is treated as if it has 0 durability if combined in a crafting grid, grindstone, or anvil so there is no way to get a further negative golden armor.
