Background and Identification
Weinmann Emergency Medical Technology is a German medical technology company based in Hamburg. Weinmann was founded in 1874 and has manufactured mobile systems for emergency, transport, and disaster medicine. The company produces and sells medical devices necessary for emergency rescue such as ventilators, defibrillators and monitors, suction devices, emergency cases, portable systems, and oxygen-supply devices.
A ventilator is a machine that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of a person’s lungs to deliver breaths to a patient who is breathing insufficiently or physically unable to breathe. Modern ventilators are computerized microprocessor-controlled machines that are primarily used in intensive care medicine, home care, emergency medicine, and anesthesiology. Ventilators are sometimes called “respirators,” though medical terminology uses the word “respirator” to refer to a protective face-mask.
Weinmann medical ventilators are designed to provide support in emergency situations and operate in the outdoors and during transport. The Weinmann ventilator range features various bag-valve masks for emergency cases or backpacks. The company also produces supplementary products and modules for additional ventilation options. Weinmann medical products include the name “WEINMANN” in capital letters with a diagonal line in between the ‘M’ and ‘A’ and the words “medical technology” underneath in lowercase letters.
