Background and Identification

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2015) Android phone is manufactured by Samsung Electronics. It was released as part of the Samsung Galaxy A series in December 2014 along with the smaller Samsung Galaxy A3 (2015) and larger Samsung Galaxy A7 (2015), which was introduced in January 2015. The Galaxy A5 (2015) was released in white, black, silver, pink, blue, and gold body colors. The phone includes a scratch-resistant glass front, a plastic back, and an aluminum frame. The Galaxy A5 features a 5.0-inch screen (hence the name A5) and a display resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels. The Galaxy A3 (2015) includes a 4.5-inch display, while the A7 sports a 5.5-inch display.

The Galaxy A5 (2015) includes 16 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM, which is identical for the A7 version, while the A3 includes 16 GB of internal storage but either 1 or 1.5 GB of RAM. The A5 and A7 feature 13-megapixel main cameras while the A3 includes a smaller 8-megapixel main camera. All three versions contain a 5-megapixel front-facing or selfie camera. The battery sizes also differ between the three models with the A7 featuring a 2600 mAh battery, the A5 including a 2300 mAh battery, and the A3 containing a 1900 mAh battery. The A3, A5, and A7’s batteries are all non-removable, meaning their batteries are attached to the inside of the device using a permanent adhesive, making repair and replacement more difficult, but not necessarily impossible.

The Galaxy A3, A5, and A7 (2015) include an oval-shaped home button with straight sides and the name “Samsung” printed in capital letters in the center of the phone’s top bezel. All three models also include the name “Samsung” printed in capital letters in the center of the phones’ rear, below the main camera. The best way to tell these phones apart is by their display size or by checking the device’s “Settings” for an “About Device” option.
