Background
The Pentax Optio WP was released in January of 2005 and was the first in Pentax’s Optio Waterproof series. This model is equipped with 5.0 MegaPixels, 3x optical zoom lens, 4x digital zoom, and a 2” LCD back screen. It operates on a lithium-ion rechargeable battery with an SD card for memory storage. The Pentax Optio WP has many interesting capabilities such as the waterproof performance which allows continuous underwater shooting in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes maximum. The Synchronous Sound Record Mode enables the user to record up to 20 seconds of sound to accompany a still photo and the Recovery Function can reclaim accidentally erased images and audio files prior to the recording of new data.

The Pentax Optio WP is identifiable by the "PENTAX Optio WP" logo on the top edge by the shutter button as well as the "WP" logo on the bottom left corner of the front face.
