Background

The Nintendo Home Console is a subcategory of Nintendo gaming consoles. These consoles are intended to be paired with a television to play.

Some of these devices have played huge roles in the development of the console industry. The original Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES, was released in 1983, and is credited with helping to save the video game industry from the crash of 1983-1985. Since then Nintendo TV Consoles have appealed to a wide range of audiences. The Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo GameCube were defining consoles in the 1990s and are still prized today by video game enthusiasts and collectors, while the Wii and Wii U were catered towards more casual gaming and those new to the video game scene. Several of the most well-known video game series and characters ever began their stories on these Nintendo devices, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and many more.
