Background Information

The SB5101 model was released alongside the existing 5100 model and was intended to be its eventual replacement. The biggest change is a new standby button on the top of the device that resets the USB and ethernet connections without disconnected the modem from the network. This new feature is intended to give end-users more security by protecting their computer from unwanted external access.

This new model is also DOCSIS® 1.1 and 2.0 certified while still being compatible with DOCSIS® 1.0. This modem works with Windows®, Macintosh®, Unix® and Linux® computers. It can support up to 63 users at one time, and features a sleek upright design that saves desk space. It can also receive software updates over the network.
