The MacBook Pro with Retina Display was released June 11, 2012.

The MacBook Pro with Retina Display is not labeled "MacBook Pro" on the bezel like previous generations, instead it is labeled on the bottom of the computer along with the model number A1398. This is the first iteration with flash storage instead of a hard drive.

The MacBook Pro with Retina Display is thinner than previous models. It has two USB 3.0 ports, one on either side of the machine, two Thunderbolt ports, and a MagSafe 2 power adapter. This model also sports an SD card reader and and HDMI port.
