Background and Identification
The Metro Drain Cleaner (model PMEBO) is a drain cleaner manufactured by General Pipe Cleaners. The Metro includes 75 feet of 9/16-inch Flexicore cable (catalog number 75EM3A), a power cable feed, a guide tube, and the Easy Rooter Junior Cutting Set (EJCS). The Easy Rooter Cutting Set (EJCS) includes the Arrow Head, 1-1/2-inch U-Cutter, 2-inch U-Cutter, and a small retrieving tool. The drain cleaner weighs 118 pounds and clears lines between 2 inches and 4 inches in diameter. The PMEBO model can hold up to 75 feet of 9/16-inch cable or 100 feet of 1/2-inch cable.
The Metro’s automatic feed function drives cleaning cable into a pipe or line at up to 20 feet per minute. The cable can be automatically retracted by putting the cleaner’s feed direction in reverse. The motor features a momentary contact reverse switch for thermal overload protection. This feature prevents the operator from running the drain cleaner in reverse for more than a few seconds. The Metro includes a 0.44-horsepower capacitor motor.
The Metro has an orange powder-coated steel frame. It has two 10-inch ball bearing wheels and wheel brakes to keep the machine in one place during operation. The Metro includes a smaller wheel at the top of the main handle. The drain cleaner’s handle folds down for storage and transportation. It also features a cutter holder to contain the various cutters in one place. The brand name “General” is printed in orange font above the model name “The Metro” in white font on the motor covering above the coil of cable.
