Background and Identification

Eureka is a home appliance company that manufactures vacuums, including both upright and stick vacuums. Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company originated in Detroit, Michigan when it was founded in 1909 by Fred Wardell. The company grew in size since its origins, producing numerous vacuum cleaners along the way. Eureka was bought by the Midea Group in 2016. Eureka, operating under Midea, still sells vacuums today (as of summer 2020).

Eureka vacuums are designed to be both powerful and lightweight. Different models are optimized for various uses. For instance, Eureka offers vacuums for deep-cleaning, animal lovers, multi-floor cleaning, etc. Eureka also offers cordless vacuums that can be easily converted into handheld vacuums. These cordless vacuums offer an additional level of portability.

Eureka vacuums come in a range of colors. Eureka stick vacuums include a vacuum base that glides across the floor. The base attaches to a cylindrical vacuum body that has a canister and handle located at the other end. Eureka upright vacuums have a larger vacuum base that includes a canister, wheels, and vacuum attachments. Eureka upright vacuums can hold their own weight and stay in an upright position, hence their name.
