Background

The Dell Inspiron 17 5765 is a laptop produced by the technology company Dell as a part of the Dell Inspiron line, targeting individual consumers. It originally started in 1999. Part of a long list of iterations, the 17 5765 is part of the Inspiron 5000 series, with this specific model released in August of 2016, and the price ranged from $599.99 to $949.99 depending on the selected parts.

The laptop’s advertisements referenced its performance, speed, and efficiency. This was due to the inclusion of the hardware from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). At the time, AMD was considered one of the best companies in the making of CPUs and other computer parts. The inclusion of an internal optical disc drive also allowed it to be advertised as a multimedia center, in which consumers could watch DVDs, burn CDs, and load software onto the desktop, which, at the time, many consumers were looking for.

However, even with all these great features, the Inspiron series has had problems with overheating, motherboard placement, power supply issues, and more. However, there have yet to be any known recalls for this specific laptop or its parts. The Dell Inspiron 17 series of laptops is no longer available for purchase on the Dell website, and after much research, it can be assumed that it was discontinued around March 2018. This discontinuation is likely due to a shift in focus toward the Inspiron 15 and 16 series.

Identification

The Dell Inspiron 17 5765 is a laptop with a trackpad placed so that the right side of the trackpad is in line with the center of the screen. The keys that form the keyboard and number pad are arranged into a perfect rectangle, with no keys protruding from the rectangle. The hinge for the screen should be a single long hinge. For newly bought laptops there should be two stickers on the laptop. The one to the left of the trackpad gives information about the series of the laptop, which should say Inspiron 17 5000 series, and shows some features the laptop has. The one to the right of the trackpad tells you what AMD CPU the laptop is using, either A9 or FX.

The model name and number of the laptop should be located on the bottom side of the laptop. If the product model cannot be identified, a service tag number should also be entered into the Dell Support Homepage search bar to identify the model number. Doing so can also reveal other information about the laptop..
