Dell Inspiron 13 1370

The Dell Inspiron 13 1370 is a laptop computer. Its name comes from its 13 inch HD LED display which gives it a small, portable design. Depending on the version, it can contain an Intel Pentium or Core2 processor, between 2-6 GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 500 GB of hard storage, WiFi, and a 1.3 megapixel camera that records in 480p picture quality. Its ports included HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, 3.5 mm jack, SD memory card reader, and four USB 2.0 slots. The 1370 was released on October 22, 2009 and was only sold in North America. The intended demographic for this device was office workers who could make use of its many ports, portable design, and long battery life.

The 1370 has no official recalls from Dell, but one common problem it faced had to do with its proprietary AC adapter. The adapter was known to fail to charge the laptop after sustaining only minor damage. And since it was a proprietary design from Dell, users could not easily find a third party replacement and would have to buy one directly from Dell. Another complaint had to do with the 1370’s bad ventilation system that caused its fans inside to spin loudly and overheat the computer’s inner components.

The Inspiron 13 1370 was part of Dell’s family of Inspiron laptop computers. They were known as Dell’s cheaper, more affordable laptops with the 1370 being listed at $599 at its release.  The first Inspiron computers were released in the late 90s, and presently, new models are still being manufactured. The 1370 was released in 2009 as a sort of second generation of Inspiron laptops and as a successor to the Inspiron 2200. The Inspiron 3000 series followed it and introduced touchscreen functionality.

The Dell Inspiron 13 1370 comes with a 13 inch display and behind it is either a black or blue top that displays the Dell logo. Upon opening the laptop, the blue top version will have an all black keyboard and mousepad area, while the black top version will have a black keyboard and silver mousepad area. The ventilation vents will be found underneath the laptop, along with its serial number and other information. Its ports will be found on both of its sides.
