Background and Identification
This Classen product is a seeding machine. It can be used to seed an empty space to make a new lawn, or overseed an existing lawn. There are two versions of this seeding machine, but this page refers to the standard walk-behind model, not the HydroDrive model. The two are very similar, but the HydroDrive model uses a different engine. This model uses a Honda GX160 engine.
Overseeding machines are mostly used to create lawns with fuller coverage. They plant seeds without uprooting the existing grass, so that more grass will grow in. Overseeding is a common practice in the spring or fall. These machines are also used to blend different types of grass together on a lawn to get a specific look or more sturdy grass. Some overseeding machines, including this one, have blades that punch into the soil to help aerate it and provide places for the seeds to fall, creating thicker grass coverage.
