Background and Identification 

        The Acer Chromebook CP5-471 is a lightweight laptop that runs on Google Chrome OS. Also known as Acer Chromebook 14, this laptop was released on March 25th, 2016 and its end of life is currently planned for June 2022. It is produced in Taipei, Taiwan and shipped worldwide. The target end user for this product works on the go, desires a big screen, and is connected to the cloud. The model number for this device (CP5-471-C0EX) can be found on the bottom of the laptop.

        The Acer Chromebook 14 was released for roughly $300 as a budget option to the Acer family of laptops. Using Chrome OS and the cloud, the computer is able to maintain productivity with much less powerful processing power. Compared to other devices in the Chrome OS market, the Acer 14 is solidly built and maintains a lengthy charge on the battery. Common problems include a clunky trackpad and the general lagginess as a result of Chrome OS.
