Magic Resistance. The zmey gorynych has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Multiple Heads. The zmey gorynych has three heads. While it has more than one head, the zmey gorynych has advantage on saving throws against being blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, stunned, and knocked unconscious.
Whenever the zmey gorynych takes 75 damage in a single turn, one of its heads dies. If all its heads die, the zmey gorynych dies.

Wakeful. While the zmey gorynych sleeps, at least one of its heads is awake.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The zmey gorynych makes as many bite attacks as it has heads.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (1d10 + 7) piercing damage.

Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The zmey gorynych breathes fire in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

A zmey gorynych, or simply zmey, is a brutish dragon easily recognized by its three heads. While neither as powerful nor as intelligent as a true dragon, a zmey is nevertheless a dangerous threat to communities nestled in the foothills.

Multi-headed Menace. A zmey gorynych resembles a strange hybrid of a wyvern and a hydra, having a similar body structure to the former and the multiple heads of the latter. While a zmey does not possess a wyvern’s poisonous stinger or a hydra’s ability to regrow severed heads, it does possess a unique quality: the ability to breathe fire. This peculiar combination of traits has led some naturalists to speculate that the zmey gorynych was bred into existence through intentional crossbreeding or sorcery.

Mountain Dwellers. A zmey gorynych makes its lair in mountainside caves that give it a commanding view of the surrounding landscape. It prefers to lair within a few miles of a humanoid settlement, as their livestock—and the humanoids themselves—provide the dragon with a steady supply of food.
A zmey’s preferred terrain often brings it into conflict with copper dragons and red dragons. Zmeys seldom back down when challenged by true dragons unless it becomes clear that they have no hope of victory. They will often bully and torment younger dragons, a torment that these dragons are all too eager to repay once they come of age.

Gluttonous Predators. Zmeys care little for accumulating wealth or influence, and focus most of their efforts on filling their bellies. They will eat almost any living creature, though they have a preference for cattle and humanoids, and will gorge themselves until they are so bloated that they can barely move. Such a fattened zmey will retreat to the safety of its lair and spend weeks digesting its meal in a kind of torpor, and any foe who happens upon the zmey while it is in this state will find it all but defenseless.
