Diving Charge. If the war griffon is flying and dives at least 30 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a claw attack, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the griffon can make another attack with its beak against it as a bonus action.

Flyby. The war griffon doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.

Keen Sight. The war griffon has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The war griffon makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its claws.

Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

Ridden by soldiers from kingdoms that usually take place near mountains; however, their mobility and speed make them very capable type of flying cavalry. Though they are trained to follow orders of their commanders, they prefer to follow one person and relate to them for life. Their training and coordination have made them experts fighters of the sky in their own right.

Variant: War Griffon Armor

An armored war griffon has an Armor Class based on the type of barding worn (see chapter 5 for more information on barding). Its Armor Class includes the griffon's Dexterity modifier, where applicable. Barding doesn't alter the griffon's challenge rating.
