More information...

Strategies and Tactics

These little bastards are pranksters. They like nothing more than to cause mischief and confusion. They prefer to confuse opponents with their touch attacks while invisible. Good dæmons will cease when their pranks become harmful. Evil dæmons often times use their stingers to instill confusion instead of just using a touch attack.

Ecology

Environment

Vandal dæmons are most often found in chaotic-aligned planes.

Typical Physical Characteristics

Vandal dæmons bear a strong resemblance to imps, and consequently are often mistaken for them.

Alignment

Vandal dæmons are always chaotic.

Lore

TBD

Society

Vandal dæmons are solitary creatures. Good ones found on the Prime Material Plane tend to associate with fey.

Typical Treasure

Vandal dæmons are not prone to hoarding treasure.

For Player Characters

Vandal dæmons may be selected as a familiar by any creature with the Improved Familiar feat.

Advanced Creatures

4+ HD Vandal dæmons tend to be chaotic good, due to their environment (chaotic good-aligned planes) having a tendency to be more forgiving of their pranks than other places. Consequently, they flourish and prosper there. Chaotic-evil aligned planes tend to be the least forgiving, and the smaller more agile dæmons are more likely to avoid retribution.

Vandal Dæmons in Endhaven

In Endhaven, vandal dæmons especially love to cause chaos at Caer Wyrmshold. They enjoy altering the library's collection; sometimes by removing the text from entire articles, but more often by inserting vulgar and obscene subject matter into the pages of books. Fortunately, the first librarian(Green Dragon (DnD NPC)) supplies an item to all the library's caretakers that gives them the ability to banish the dæmons and undo their mischief.

Another favorite pastime of the dæmons in Caer Wyrmshold, is to torment the librarians. They are especially fond of stealing the librarians' caramel, dark chocolate, butterscotch, and butterrum, and keeping just out of the librarian's reach. A dæmon will hold on to the candy while taunting its victim knowing that if the librarian banishes it, the candy its possession gets banished, too.

Bastards...

Sledged, Creatures of the Planes

Vandal Dæmons are belligerent beasts that take enjoyment in destroying books. These pesky dæmons have put entire libraries to ruin and many librarians dreams to a screeching halt. Vandal Dæmons typically go around ruining librarians hopes by discreet methods including ripping out pages of books, burning books, scribbling all over their pages, expunging and re-writing pages, and moving books around the library into places which that book does not belong. However, and luckily enough for many libraries books, some librarians do not mind doing a much needed job of rooting out Vandal Dæmons and banishing them from libraries. These librarians are normally well regarded among fellow librarians and awarded appropriately, however they become despised among the dæmons themselves.

Vandal Dæmons are a large problem for librarians for a couple of reasons. For one they act like a normal library guest, browsing books as if they were going to use them. This ability makes a Vandal Dæmon that has yet to strike a serious problem. For another thing Vandal Dæmons do not act like a normal opponent when encountered and fought. Instead of the dæmon retreating to fight another time when it seems like it does not have the upper hand Vandal Dæmons will attack with all their force once they are invoked, and sometimes their damage will disgruntle a casual or inexperienced librarian enough to make their damage irrevocable.

Overall Vandal Dæmons are a problem every library will have to face. Luckily Caer Wyrmshold has this problem well covered. Caer Wyrmshold has librarians, and even some library guests, who help fight these malicious beasts, keeping them at bay and keeping its books safe.
