The Slime (5e Subclass)

This page is of questionable balance. Reason: What is reforming? An immortality clause is OP.

The Slime

Warlock Subclass

You have entered a pact with a powerful entity with dominion over oozes such as Juiblex, Ghaunadaur, or perhaps a powerful Oblex or ancient primordial ooze. This pact has left you touched with their power, granting you the abilities to alter your biology to be like that of an ooze.

Expanded Spell List

The Slime lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell LevelSpells
1stentangle, grease
2ndenlarge/reduce, web
3rdbestow curse, galder's tower
4thblack tentacles, polymorph
5thcontagion, geas
Symbiotic Spellcasting

When you pick this subclass at 1st level, you can choose to replace your spellcasting modifier and Charisma saving throw proficiency with Constitution, as well as any other warlock ability that relies on Charisma such as Eldritch Invocations.

Consume

Also at 1st level, when a creature dies while grappled or restrained by you, you can use your action to consume it as your flesh turns malleable and engulfs it, granting you temporary hit points equal to your warlock level. You can also consume a corpse as an action.

Corrosive Metabolism

Once you reach 6th level your blood becomes corrosive to others. You have resistance to acid damage. In addition, when a creature deals damage to you with a melee attack, your acidic blood sprays on them, dealing acid damage equal to your warlock level.

Manifestation

Beginning at 10th level your patron grants you the power to manifest their body. As an action you can turn into an Ooze who's challenge rating is equal to or lower than half your warlock level. This transformation lasts up to 8 hours and you can perform a 1 minute ritual which requires your concentration to revert back to your normal self, and again to reform into your transformation. You retain your alignment and Constitution score unless the one of the form you're assuming is higher, otherwise all your other stats are replaced by the Ooze. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Oozing Assimilation

Finally at 14th level your patron turns you into one of their hungering spawn, an extension of their mass. You gain the following benefits:

  • You no longer age and cannot die of old age
  • Your size is now Large
  • You can enter other creatures space to use the engulf feature of the Gelatinous Cube.
  • You gain resistance to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage from nonmagical weapons
  • You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
  • You can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
  • If you are killed, your body will reform over the following 4d6 days
  • You gain the ooze creature type

Eldritch Invocations & Pact Boon

The invocations exclusive to the Slime patron are added to the Eldritch Invocations list of the Warlock Variant Rule: Invocations and Boons page.

At 3rd level, a character dedicated to the Slime can select Pact of the Maw instead of one of the warlock's existing Pact Boon options.

gollark: "is that whatever times whatever times whatever is constant"?
gollark: Pretty sure anything below 2.125, which 2.1249 is, should round to 2.12.
gollark: If you don't want the images and stuff it's only 15-ish gigabytes.
gollark: If you're tired of sometimes not being able to access Wikipedia, just download it!
gollark: The equation is 4FeS2 + 11O2 --> 2Fe2O3 + 8SO2. You want to know how many moles O2 are needed per mole FeS2, so that's 11/4 = 2.75. Then, since the question asks for how many moles O2 are needed with *3* moles FeS2, multiply by 3, and you get 8.25.
