The Silencer (5e Equipment)

Back to Main Page 5e Homebrew Equipment Artifacts

Weapon(Longbow), artifact (Requires attunement)

The Silencer is a bow of Elven material that comes from long-lost days of yore. No one truly knows what it is made of, just that it was forged millennia ago and carries immense magical power. Some people believe they are descended from the creators of this bow, and therefore spend their entire life trying to find the location of the bow. None have succeeded so far, as it is buried in a location that no one has found, and it is guarded heavily. It is sought after by forces of darkness as well as forces of light, as they want to find out the source of its power and use it to make their own weapon of similar power.
Random Properties. The The Silencer has the following random properties:

  • 2 minor beneficial properties
  • 2 major beneficial properties
  • 1 minor detrimental property

Bow of Power. The Silencer has a +3 to attack and damage rolls and deals an extra 2d10 force damage against fiends, undead, and orcs.

Bow of Abundance. The Silencer automatically creates its own ammunition. The bow does not require ammunition, and it deals 1d8 force damage on a hit instead of piercing.

Bow of Agility. While wielding this bow, your Dexterity score increases by 4, to a maximum of 24, and you have advantage on Acrobatics checks.

Bow of Awareness. While wielding this bow, your Wisdom and Intelligence scores increase by 2, to a maximum of 22, and you have advantage on all Perception and Investigation checks.

Bow of Long Shooting. The range of this bow is 450/1800. In addition, you can, as part of your turn when you fire The Silencer, triple both ranges of the bow. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier. Once you use all uses of this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Bow of Accuracy. As part of your turn when you fire The Silencer, you can give yourself either a +5 to the attack roll or a +10 to the damage roll. You do this after you have rolled the attack, but before the DM says it hits or misses. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier. Once you use all uses of this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Bow of Blasting. When you hit a target with an arrow, you can choose to have that arrow explode. Every creature within 10 feet of the creature you hit must make a Dexterity saving throw equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier or take 8d6 fire damage. The creature you hit automatically fails the saving throw. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Bow of Elven Might. If you are not an elf or half-elf, you gain the following benefits:

  • You learn to speak, read, and write Elvish.
  • You can trace instead of sleeping. It is the same trance that elves do, as described in the Player's Handbook.
  • You gain darkvision to a radius of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, the radius extends by 30 feet.
  • You can cast Disguise Self on yourself once per short or long rest, but only to make yourself look like an elf.

If you are an elf or half-elf, you gain the following benefits:

  • The Silencer's bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to a +5.
  • The Silencer gets a critical hit on a 19 or 20.
  • The Silencer deals an extra 2d10 force damage against all creatures and 4d10 against fiends, undead and orcs.
  • You can, as a bonus action, cause the bow to pierce through creatures. When you shoot this bow, but before you know if it hits or misses, you can choose to cause the projectile to pierce. If it hits, all creatures in a line 30 feet long and 5 feet wide starting at where you hit your target must make a Dexterity saving throw equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier or take the same amount of damage as you dealt to your original target. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
  • You can learn any language in a quarter of the time and cost while attuned to this weapon.

Destroying the The Silencer. The Silencer is incredibly tough, but if it is melted in the forge it was made in, then it can be rendered useless.
