Talk:Tarot Mage (5e Class)
I spy!
Hey, Hey! It's a Tarot Mage!
Are you also a fan of Arcane Mysteries' Tarot Mage? Or is this a coincidental original creation? --Jwguy (talk) 14:31, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- Coincedental :/ What's Arcane Mysteries though? Sounds cool. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AngelsAndAarakocra (talk • contribs) 13:03, 9 June 2017. Please sign your posts.
- I believe the full title was Arcane Mysteries: Tarot Magic. It was a D20 book that introduced Tarot Magic in 2002. I've been adapting it onto the wiki with Tarot Mage (3.5e Class). --Jwguy (talk) 13:20, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
- Well at least you won't need to convert it to 5e :) Although I suspect they will end up being rather different...

So I've just created my mage without seeing that the page was finished, and my first play through is this weekend so I'll be powering through to try and finish it. I have a couple ideas on the minor arcana and rn I'm working on The Devil card. So do you mind if I update you on what I have so far?

Paradoxof---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hell, i love your ideias of a tarot mage, i love tarot cards, and a support for that is very difficult to find, so i have some ideias to you:
- instead of do the 78 cards, do the 22 bigger arcanos
- Sun - during the day you receive a translucid weapon that give radiant damage, burning the enemies, in next levels you can do that you receive bonus during the day, and durint the night its a normal weapon
- Moon - during the night you receive a translucid weapon that give frost (ice) damage, freezing the enemies, in next levels you can do that you receive bonus during the night, and durint the day its a normal weapon
- The world - The mage receive a little bird that protects him, with wind walls and taking the damage for him
- Judgment - The mage receive a trumpet, that trumpet causes different kinds of CC, like poisining, burning, freezing, stun, paralyse, confusion depending of the way you play that
So i think taht it would be better and easier if you create just the 22, and nerf the hanged man and the death, they are OP as fuck omg, really impossible to believe

I completely love this idea of using Tarot Mages. I think DnD is the perfect place to apply Tarot knowledge. I do have a couple of suggestions:
I agree with Paradoxof (in the comment above) when he says to leave it as the 22 Major Arcana cards, however I do think keeping all 78 would be beneficial. However, instead of applying a benefit to each of the minor arcana cards, I suggest applying benefits to these categories:
1) Cups, Wands, Pentacles, and Swords each grant a different, minor benefit
2) Numbers 1 - 10, the Page, the Knight, the King, and the Queen each grant a different, minor benefit.
Essentially, pulling a minor arcana card will grant two (somewhat small) benefits: one from its number, and one from its suit. For example, if I pull the Four of Wands, I will be granted the benefit that comes from a Four card and the benefit that comes from a Wand card. Let me know what you guys think!
