Soooo... to buy one of these things you have to spend your entire first level equivalent of experience? How does that work, exactly? JazzMan 10:35, 8 January 2011 (MST)
Pretty much you are supposed to buy them when you are higher lvl. They are rare to find someone selling one. Dj00345 14:15, 3 March 2011 (MST)
Right, but even at high level you are spending the equivalent of a first level character's worth of experience for what amounts to a ten-gallon bucket. Meh. And practically, how are you supposed to pay the experience cost? "Here shopkeep, 500 gold pieces, 10 platinums, 400 coppers, and a piece of paper with '1000xp' written on it." JazzMan 14:21, 3 March 2011 (MST)
Well... No.... The 1000xp thing is only for if you find this while adventuring. The 2000 gold from te right buyer thing is for if you are selling it to a shopkeeper. To buy one, it is only about 1,500gp. It is intended for higher lvl adventurers. Dj00345 14:46, 3 March 2011 (MST)
So what's high level, 15th? That means that finding this thing out in the middle of a field is worth only 125xp less than fighting an adult red dragon, which has 250 hit points, a caster level of 7, 7 attacks per round, and a breath weapon dealing 12d10 damage. Bucket please! And what does this 15th level party need with a 10 gallon bucket? The cleric can create 30 gallons of water instantaneously with a 0a level spell. 6 times per day. Heck, for 375gp you can have a wand which creates 100 gallons (over the course of 50 rounds).
Then there's the price. In D&D (as in real life), you sell things for less than what you can buy them for at retail. If you can buy one of these for 1,500, then sell it back for 2,000, you are now just creating gp's. If the thing can be bought for 1,500gp, then you can sell it for 750gp. Maybe 800gp with a good diplomacy check and a pliable DM. JazzMan 12:14, 4 March 2011 (MST)
gollark: Sigh?
gollark: You should use your terrible garbage abilities to add it.
gollark: :transistor: isn't available here, though...
gollark: add emojicon
gollark: Good for it.
