Symbiote Seeker

Symbiote Seeker is a special prestige class for those wanting to use multiple creatures with the symbiotic subtype.

Becoming a Symbiote Seeker

There are a number of Symbiotic creatures that exist in the world. Some stranger than others, some more powerful than others. One thing is for sure they need a host, and you are more than happy to host more than one of these creatures. If anything, you would devote your being to allowing multiple Symbiotes to exist in and on your body, making your body an effective miniature ecosystem.

Entry Requirements
Race: Races of the Humanoid Type, Monstrous Humanoid Type, or Outsider Type (Any subtype acceptible)
Skills: Knowledge (Nature) 6 Ranks and Knowledge (The Planes) 3 Ranks
Feats: Skill Focus (Knowledge (Nature)) and Skill Focus (Knowledge (The Planes)).
Special: Must have had a symbiote bound to your character (The creature can still be bound to your character at the time of taking this PrC).

Class Features

A Symbiote Seeker has something of a Single-minded goal of acquiring multiple Symbiotes. As such, this class offers a means of acquiring multiple symbiotes and give the DM a means of balancing the mechanics of multiple Symbiotes. This class has a strong reliant on the DM placing Symbiotic creatures in their campaign setting. All of the following are class features of the Symbiote Seeker.

Resist Symbiote Damage (Ex): When a new Symbiotic creature connects itself to your character, if there is any kind of damage that would be dealt by the mere action, the Symbiote Seeker is entitled to a Will Save vs Ego Score check. A successful check means no damage. Failure means full damage. This feature does not work for symbiotic creatures being removed from you.

Symbiote Counter: At each level, the Symbiote Seeker gains a special pool of points referred to as the Symbiote Counter. A Symbiote Seeker can utilize this counter to negate Level Adjustments that would acquire from a Symbiote (Explained Below). If a Symbiote is not noted with a Level Adjustment (LA), the Challenge Rating (CR) is used in this regard (Meaning a Symbiote with no LA but a CR in its entry is treated as having an LA of +CR. Fractal CRs and no LAs are treated as LA +1 in this regard). This also allows for multiple symbiotic creatures to connect to your character (To the DM's Discretion). If the total LA exceeds the counter, your character is treated as having an LA equal to (Initial LA - Symbiote Counter). As per the norm, the Symbiote Seeker gains the benefits granted by a Symbiote as indicated in its entry.

Aberrant: At 10th level, the Symbiote Seeker has become capable of handling the bizarre anatomy that they possess through Symbiotes. They are treated as an Aberration (augmented humanoid, Monstrous Humanoid, or Outsider) for determination as to how certain spells affect the Symbiote Seeker. Also, for any Symbiote linked with a Symbiote Seeker for at least 1 week, the Symbiote Seeker can make a final Will vs Ego Score check to permanently take over the Symbiote and fuse it to the Symbiote Seeker. This check can only be made on a single Symbiote 1/week, can be retried if it fails, and this reduces the Symbiote Counter by the Symbiote's determined LA (See Symbiote Counter. This in effect acts permanently gaining the granted abilities from a Symbiote as a Class Feature) upon success.

Epic Symbiote Counter: Very much like the basics of the first 10 levels, an Epic Symbiote Seeker continues to expand his symbiotic counter. However at this stage, it slows down. At 11th level and every 3 levels thereafter, an Epic Symbiote Seeker gains an additional point in their counter.

Playing a Symbiote Seeker

Combat: Various roles in combat can be filled, depends on the particular Symbiote Seeker.

Advancement: Once levels in this class satisfy to the Symbiote Seeker, they typically revert to their base class.

Resources: The Symbiote Seeker relies on Symbiotes of certain sorts. As such there's not really a network or resource outside of materials relating to known Symbiotes in the campaign.

Symbiote Seekers in the World

Must.... find... SYMBIOTES
—Jackson, Human Druid/Symbiote Seeker

Symbiote Seekers fit in a variety of places. Typically forests/caves/bodies of water/ect. is where they would be most likely to be discovered.

NPC Reactions: NPCs would find the devotion to seeking Symbiotes bizarre, if not disturbing. Though an overall admiration for the fact that Symbiotes typically grant some beneficial ability.

Symbiote Seeker Lore

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (Nature) can research Symbiote Seekers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

Knowledge (Nature)
DCResult
11"Symbiote Seekers can handle multiple Symbiotes with little to no problems."
16"A Symbiote Seeker is more than aware that Symbiotic creatures cannot survive on their own for long. Some only last a week or so without a host before death."
21A particular Symbiote, including last known location and notable deed.
26"If a Symbiote Seeker is joined with a Symbiote long enough, it may very well be possible to overpower the Symbiote and fuse them to themselves permanently."

Symbiote Seekers in the Game

Symbiote Seekers would fit in campaigns with creatures of a symbiotic nature. They can fit rather well in campaigns with low-to-no magic rules.

Adaptation: No Symbiotes, no Symbiote Seekers. Pretty straightforward. Low-to-no campaigns would have the Knowledge (The Planes) replaced with Knowledge (Religion) to better fit explaining Outsider Symbiotes.
