Ammunition (range 50/200), loading, special, two-handed You use your Strength modifier for attack rolls and damage with this weapon. Despite its name, this weapon uses javelins, not spears, as ammunition. While equipped and with ammunition available, you may make a melee or ranged attack with the ammunition itself without having to stow or drop the spear-thrower. A spear-thrower can be used as the weapon component for the shillelagh spell, gaining a melee attack of its own that uses your spellcasting modifier.
