Scroll, varies (major) (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

A scroll of spell forms is a scroll with visual depictions of the stances required to cast certain spells, sometimes complete with written annotations explaining the significance of such moves. Some scrolls of spell forms depict manipulations of an arcane orb; others show a series of stances that, when proficiently replicated, evoke the magic within; yet others reveal schematics for a mysterious gadget of magical power. Due to the immense value of these sorts of items, scrolls of spell forms are never found as loose rolls of paper.

Teachings of the Scroll. Learning how to glean useful power from a scroll of spell forms can take quite some time; A wizard would need to transcribe it into his spellbook; a sorcerer would need to figure out how to evoke their in-born magical force to create it; A cleric or warlock may need to pray to their patron to have them figure out how to grant it as a power.
As a result of this lengthy period of study, attuning to the scroll requires one week of downtime per level of the spell in the scroll of spell forms. Once finally attuned to the scroll, you can do one of the following, depending on your class:

  • As an arcane trickster, bard, eldritch knight, ranger, sorcerer, or warlock: You learn the scroll's spell and add it to your spells known, provided that your class's level and amount of spells known allows you to know it. You may do this whenever you complete a long rest.
  • As a sorcerer: You forget a spell you currently know and learn the scroll's spell. You may do this whenever you complete a long rest.
  • As an artificer, cleric, druid, or paladin: You add the scroll's spell to your spell list.
  • As a wizard: You transcribe the scroll's spell into your spellbook. This process takes half as much gp as normal, and takes no time due to the previous studies required to attune to the scroll.

Once you learn the spell via one of the methods described, you lose attunement to that particular scroll of spell forms and can't attune to it again.
