Scrafty (5e Race)

Scrafty

Physical Description

A Scrafty Source

Scrafties are short lizardfolk with orange scales, possessing a large, round head that rests atop a skinny body. They have large eyes that always seem to be half-open, giving the impression that they're in a constant state of boredom. Their mouths are always in a frown-like position, with their 3 front teeth constantly exposed. They adorn themselves with yellow pants and a yellow scarf-hoodie type garment, both of which are made from their own shed skin. Lastly, their heads have what appears to be a scaly, reddish mohawk, otherwise known as a crest.

Some Scrafties have been known to have yellow scales and wear, oddly enough, green skins. Their crests appear to be a lighter shade of red as well.

History

Scrafties, and their shorter, more innocent looking underlings known as Scraggies, traditionally live in caves or nomadic lives in desert areas, but many have adapted to city life. Some have even adapted to living in volcanic areas, such as Mt. Chimney in the Hoenn region. While they can be found almost anywhere, they are said to originally hail from the deserts of Unova.

Society

Life in alleyways and abandoned structures, stealing from and mugging unsuspecting victims is the norm for city-dwelling Scrafties and their gangs. In gangs with multiple Scrafties, the one with the largest crest is considered the leader. Those who choose to live outside of a city typically don't engage in criminal activity as often, though some have argued that this is because there are less potential victims, especially considering the only victims of such attacks were those who traveled alone or in very small numbers. Despite their penchant for thievery and rudeness they take very good care of not only their gangs but even friends outside the gang, often considering such friends as honorary gang members, as well as it's territory. Some Scrafties never leave their territory and dedicate their whole life long defending it.

Scrafty Names

Because Scrafty society operates mostly like a street gang, their names are usually short and simple, typically consisting of only one or two syllables and are almost always unisex. Their names are usually in Undercommon, but gang leaders, due to Scraggies and Scrafties supposedly having a connection with dragons, will usually give themselves Draconic names.
