Saradi (3.5e Prestige Class)
The Saradi
“ | "These People Cannot Defend themselves from the Vampiric Marauders. I must take my leave of you, if only for a short while. I'll track down the cabal of Vampires here, kill their leader, research that spell that will allow me to neutralize the plague that will turn those bitten into unholy abominations themselves, and then catch up with you. It should only be an hour or so." | ” |
—Ryan Shandril, Gray Elf Saradi. |
You didn't mean to multi-class in such a haphazzard way, right? You were just taking levels in classes that you thought would help solve the problems your party was facing at the times that you leveled up. Now look at you, You've got a couple of arcane and divine spells, you can take a crack on the back of the head, and you know how to use Kung Fu. We won't even get into your skills.
But Somehow, you've always been able to get out of situations that a purist could not, and you've always had just the right ability to save the day. Whether it be a "just in the nick-of-time" Cure Spell on a friend at -9 hp, or that lucky critical hit you scored on that assassin who attacked while you were all sleeping without your equipment on. Or perhaps when the Rogue lay unconscious on the floor, and you had to disable the device that was causing the walls to close in on you.
Perhaps there's more to this than luck. Perhaps you knew what you were doing the whole time, didn't you? Regardless. Just keep it up.
Becoming a Saradi
It's Difficult for most to become a Saradi, as the Requirements are steep, and the ability scores needed to be successful at the class are difficult to obtain as well. One must have Good Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution to fight on the front lines, but also have enough Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma in order to cast his spells, or outthink his opponents.
So why spread your Ability Scores so thin? Why purposely cripple yourself with unstacking abilities? Because they're needed, that's why. Your Wizard may need a Guardian when the Fighter is bleeding out on the floor. The Cleric may need to be brought back from the brink of Death. The Rogue may need someone to watch her back while you both sneak down the hallway covered in Glyphs of Warding. You have a purpose, it's just not clearly defined.

In addition, he gains a +2 Perfection bonus to his Diplomacy checks. Spellcasting: At each level, you gain spells known, spells per day, and increased caster level as if you had gained a level in a previous Arcane Spellcasting Class, and A previous Divine Spellcasting Class. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. Living Shield: At Level 3, A Saradi gains 1hp/Level and DR 5/- Saradi's Defense: At level 5, a Saradi is not affected by Ability Damage or Drain. In addition, he adds his Highest Ability Modifier as an untyped bonus to his Saves. Saradi's Exaltation: At level 10, a Saradi's Damage Reduction increases to 10/-, and adds his Highest Ability Modifier as an Untyped Bonus to His AC. Playing a SaradiCombat: Starting off in your character's career, you may be starting out as a spellcaster. As is such, depending on that class, you're going to be either on the front lines or in the back. As a Saradi, you function equally well as a support character, or front line combatant. Depending on your spellcasting classes, you may even have some ability as artillery. Advancement: Most Characters who pick up levels in this prestige class see it through to the end, As it grants them rather impressive abilities. Those who finish the class may choose to specialize in their spellcasting, and pick up a few levels in Mystic Theurge. Others will focus on combat or skills, and perhaps alternate between Monk and Rogue Levels. Resources: Saradi's are unknown to one another, in fact, they may not even know that they are one themselves. They tend to combine rigid discipline with an easy flowing adaptive mentality, which perhaps likens them to an ice cube in a river. Example of a Saradi
