A rooter mote is a young rooter that resembles a large vine that ends with a bulbous growth that will one day be the rooter's body. They move around like snakes, but the heavy bulb slows them down considerably, and in combat they can only flee. Rooter motes are usually carried by larger rooters when they roam, but they grow quickly given enough food, and soon become true rooters. If a rooter mote would become one of the rare variant rooters, it gains access to those traits only when it becomes a fully-grown rooter.
