ConcealedLight is very knowledgeable about D&D and has shown an active interest in upholding editing standards and maintaining the quality of the wiki. His work with 5th edition races and epic boons and with the Musicus Meter is noteworthy. I feel he has a firm grasp of wiki policy and that his access to the admin tools would benefit the wiki a great deal. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email) . . 12:35, 11 April 2018 (MDT)
- Candidates Prelude
With a barnstar on his jacket and a lion ring on his finger the 5e race guy steps forward.
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve D&D Wiki in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list on Wikipedia before answering.
- A: There is always more work to be done on the wiki and I believe if given the opportunity to do more I will be able to rise to meet the expectation of administrators, those that put their faith in me in this RfA and the collective community that is D&D Wiki. After a few weeks of learning how to use the administrative features. I'll begin reviewing the recent activity log to continue to curb wiki vandalism myself whereas before I would normally report it to User:GamerAim and User:SgtLion. Also, using it to assist my continued work on the Alphabetical 5e Races as there are sometimes protected pages in need of a cleanup. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:51, 11 April 2018 (MDT)
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to D&D Wiki, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: There are a number of pages that I feel a strong connection to for a variety of reasons, to name a few. I'm not sure if the Talk:Main_Page#New_Logo counts but I love it and it was good fun to design and develop, naturally a point of pride since everyone site-wide sees it. The featured articles the Alraune (5e Race) and the Earth Giant (5e Race) turned out amazing, each with their own brand of depth, complexity, and flavor from both a mechanical and playstyle, lore, and fluff as well as first-party integration and originally. Next, the Demigod (5e Race) a page that suffered from constant edit warring, blatantly unbalanced content and required an administrator to step before it was eventually deleted, only to get recreated in a similar fashion as before. I felt rather than fill the page to the brim with maintenance templates I chose to view the history of the page as a testament to a community need for such a race and then went about brainstorming, tweaking, fluff and seeking other editors who were involved in the previous page. Going so far as to ask Geodude671 to send me screenshots of previous page revisions that were deleted as part of my attempt to better understand and satisfy that community need before finishing it at the point you see today. Finally, there is the work I did transcribing the Musicus Meter (5e Guideline) that will follow on to the next question. After seeking out the creator James Musicus to ask for permission I went a step beyond that by poking at the meter for weaknesses, after noticing a number of inconsistencies that I would then run through by with James who would explain the reasoning behind them or comment, "Good eye" before correcting them. Through working with James directly and transcribing this meter it lead me to find what other wikians and myself would call my niche, races and from there I began my current work on the expanding the meter to better suit the D&D Wiki users with the User:ConcealedLight/Musicus Expansion and working through the Alphabetical 5e Races to which I have gone through all races from Aa to Ka at the moment. The User:ConcealedLight/Musicus Expansion project being born out of what I believe to be a community need to better assess their homebrew content against a meter that only caters to first party traits. Similarly to the Demigod (5e Race) I feel that my work on the Musicus Meter (5e Guideline) and User:ConcealedLight/Musicus Expansion will ultimately improve the average users concept of comparative balance and progressively improve the quality of 5th edition articles on the wiki. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:51, 11 April 2018 (MDT)
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Yes. While on the wiki I've had the pleasure of meeting many people from a variety of different backgrounds, and systems that all have different and unique perspectives on a variety of things and when those perspectives clash it often isn't a bad thing or something to stress over. Having an opinion challenged or questioned is how progress is made and how more informed and stronger perspectives form. In particular, I can only recall myself clashing with User:BigShotFancyMan due to a miscommunication on my part in regards to the Aurochs (5e Race) balance and over my overuse of the Musicus Meter before rules were discussed and put in place to prevent meter wide usuage. While both of these instances stressed me out a little they were paramount to developing and inform my own current style of editing and even now I know I can always message User:BigShotFancyMan if I'd like a second opinion on something. Like all good characters, without conflict, there is no reason for them to develop into the memorable characters that you grow to cherish. A little bit of my own DM wisdom there. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:51, 11 April 2018 (MDT)

- Though I do disagree with CL on some policy points, I haven't seen any harmful or worrying aspects to ConcealedLight in his time as an active editor. He has contributed a lot, both in sweet material contributions, and as being a levelheaded actor in practically all his discourse. It's his admirable ability at being the latter that I have particularly always felt made CL a good candidate for adminship. He constantly makes attempts to improve the wiki, but equally importantly, he knows when to stop, when asked. With a good grasp of rules, mechanics, collaboration, good thinking, and enthusiasm to help, I always wondered if I'd end up being the person to nominate him. Best o' luck. --SgtLion (talk) 18:19, 11 April 2018 (MDT)
- Concealed is seriously one of the most professional and skilled writers on this site. I'm not surprised AT ALL to see his nomination on the main page today. I have no doubt making Concealed an admin would mean some serious improvements to D&D Wiki. You have my support, Concealed, and I'm rooting for you! :) --EpicBoss99 (talk) 13:59, 14 April 2018 (MDT)
- ConcealedLight has done a lot of good work with the Musicus Meter, and I think that D&D Wiki would stand to benefit from this. Supported! SirSprinkles (talk) 20:16, 14 April 2018 (MDT)
- From what I know of ConcealedLight, I believe that they would make an excellent admin on the wiki. CL has displayed a constant desire to collaborate 1, 2, ect. with other users to improve their work and they have helped improve a large number of pages on the wiki. While they may have to learn the odds and ends of being an admin, I have confidence in their ability to make positive contributions to the wiki, both as an admin for D&D Wiki and as an active contributor.--Blobby383b (talk) 10:47, 15 April 2018 (MDT)
- CL has shown great tempermant, tendencies towards constructive solutions, oversight on page histories, and the willingness to work on admin tasks. While each of these milestones has my respect, they did not come without their respective solutions and discussions. I support CL since he has handled his interactions with other users and work on D&D Wiki constructively, informed, and in a manner that is fitting to see him develop as an admin with. --Green Dragon (talk) 13:32, 15 April 2018 (MDT)
- ConcealedLight has helped me fix, edit and overhaul more of my content than I care to admit. They are friendly, loyal to the site and have shown incredible work ethic well beyond my own. I would be honored to see CL join the immaculate ranks of the Admin. Fully supported indeed. --Cotsu Malcior (talk) 17:18, 15 April 2018 (MDT)
Oppose
Neutral
- I think CL is a great editor of 5e homebrew. He clearly shows dedication towards it. But I don't necessarily feel that his (at times single-minded) grasp of 5e mechanics and advocating for the Musicus Meter necessarily qualify him for adminship. I'm voting neutral for now as, while I'm not confident he'd be a good admin, I don't recall him being particularly aggressive or confrontational in the past. TBH, his conduct in real-time chat doesn't speak to me as admin material (he never did anything real bad either), but I won't let that tint my view of him on the wiki; SO if anyone wants to show me some evidence of why they think CL would (or wouldn't) be a good admin, I'm open to shifting my stance, and I'm sure CL would love to be praised as well :) --GamerAim

- I can say that ConcealedLight has a good temperament, but as I've been away from the wiki for a while I don't currently have a grasp on how he might handle the admin tools. I was a bit concerned about the nomination of Boon of Quickness (5e Epic Boon) for deletion (and, er, subsequent deletion) in favour of Boon of Haste (5e Epic Boon) as it shows an unfamiliarity with that section of the DMG. His ability to interact well with other users is a definite plus, so I feel he can be trusted with the block and restoration tools. Marasmusine (talk) 15:52, 14 April 2018 (MDT)
- There's no contest about ConcealedLight's dedication to the Musicus Meter or curating articles. He shows great determination making sure balanced pages are what exist on the wiki. Despite commending him on his works and his answer to my question, I would prefer to see him helping other users just a few more months before becoming admin. Beings that the only "fault" I have of him, opposing wouldn't be fair. I am neutral purely for the sake of wanting to see more of the discussions, constructive solutions, and professionalism with other users. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 16:01, 15 April 2018 (MDT)

- Things are busy so apologies. I’m curious/concerned about hastiness and zeal. I can’t blame Geodude671 entirely for his quickness on matters as he acted on user request a lot, and I believe wanted a happy wiki. So my question is, as someone who once made said requests, when becoming an admin will you exercise some form of discussion or patience with content (in general and yes, imagery!) unless it is blantant innapropriate? I will commend you on the logo and work on races. I also think you’ve become someone that helps users with valuable feedback on stubs/templates/talk pages. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 18:52, 13 April 2018 (MDT)
- Yup, I believe I've shown that I'm capable of that and that even as a normal wikian I exercise such qualities while on the site. --ConcealedLight (talk) 11:01, 14 April 2018 (MDT)
