Repurposed Firework Launcher (5e Equipment)

The main contributor(s) of this page determined that this page should be reviewed. Reason: I'm not entirely positive how to balance a renaissance rocket launcher, but I hope it works. Damage was based on the DMG's renaissance bomb plus a small amount from force.

Once a mortar-like device designed to launch timed explosive projectiles meant to bring joy through colorful displays, this device has been reworked into a true weapon of unimaginable power to the pre-renaissance mind. This weapon consists of a tube of sturdy material with a flint and steel striker at its top. Upon striking the firing mechanism, this weapon's projectile accelerates itself through a blast. On contact with its target, the head of the shell crumbles, allowing its exposed fuse to ignite a massive reservoir of explosive substances. In modern terms, it is a recoilless rifle.

This weapon's ammunition costs 100 gp per shot.

All creatures in a 15 ft. radius of the targeted area must attempt a Dexterity saving throw with a DC equal to 10 + any bonuses you would add to a martial ranged weapon's attack. On a failure, they take 4d6 fire damage, are knocked prone, and are moved 10 ft. away from the source. On a success, they take half as much damage, are moved 5 ft. away from the source, and are not knocked prone. Additionally, all creatures in a 10 ft. cone on your side opposite to the targeted area must attempt a DC 15 Strength saving throw. On a failure, the back blast causes them to take 1d8 fire damage, are knocked prone, and are moved 5 ft. away from the source. On a success, they take half as much damage, are not moved, and are not knocked prone.
