Reaper of Utiolth (3.5e Creature)

Personally, with this space, I like to keep the comment tags in place (despite what the instructions say) and use it to do a level-by-level breakout of skill points, skill ranks, and net skill modifiers. With the comment tags in place it'll stay hidden unless you go back to the "edit" view.

Other NPC Information

The thing had eyes as black as the void and skin of pale color. Its hair was black, blowing in an impossible wind, and black robes adorned it. In its eyes there was a cruel, inhuman malice; that of a child who crushes ants under his boot, that of a being that cares nothing for the lesser races, like a child poking and prodding at an anthill and watching them scurry about in panic and confusion.

It did not notice me, or it took no care, and I was glad that it was not looking, for I knew that if I took its attention, a terrible fate was in store. Behind it billowed a cloak of absolute darkness, blowing in an invisible wind. It had one great black wing on the right side, and six thin ones on its left, and I knew then that it was one of Utiolth's dread Reapers, the servants at the right hand of the Dead King.

In its hand was a sword of adamantine, and with one great black wing it rose upwards, until it was gone from my sight, a blessing that, I think, none before me have been granted.

The Reapers of Utiolth are his most feared servants, aside from the countless undead minions he unleashes upon the world. That is not only from the way that they can slaughter entire armies without slowing to stop or rest - it is their arrogant disdain for anything else that truly makes them evil. They think nothing of lesser creatures, only obeying their master out of fear and his unbreakable dominion over them.

Mortal humans are at best playthings for them, at worst nothing more than vermin to be exterminated. They delight in the spreading of evil, and would consider a mortal to be nothing more than an ant beneath their feet. They are created by Utiolth out of the souls of his worshippers, made as a mockery of celestials, with one great black wing on their left side and three thin wings on the right. Their eyes are utterly black, and one cannot find any emotion in their alien depths.

Combat

A Reaper's natural weapons, as well as any weapon it wields, are treated as Evil-aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction.

Reapers attack coldly, dispassionately, killing at random to strike terror into their foes and giving them occasional spots of hope to make their despair and suffering as they lose even greater. They will first attempt to kill their opponents with their longswords. If that is not sufficient, they use their special abilities.

Fear Aura (Su)

Haeral felt fear rushing through his mind as he charged the blasphemy, running away in sheer terror...

All Reapers have a Fear Aura. Turning this Aura on or off is a free action. A creature in the area must succeed on a DC 25 Will save or be affected as though by a fear spell (caster level 18th). A creature that successfully saves cannot be affected again by the same Reaper's aura for 24 hours. Other fiends are immune to the aura. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Gaze of Darkness (Su)

The Reaper unleashed its gaze, bolts of dark lightning shooting from its eyes. The most Annah felt before everything went black was her flesh decaying and withering...

The Reaper may use this on any target it can see. The target must make a DC 30 Constitution save or die instantly. If they pass the test they cannot be affected by the same Reaper's Gaze of Darkness for 24 hours.

Shadow of Death (Su)

As Jaerod looked at the thing, it changed, turning into a darkness that was everything. He could see his thoughts, his dreams, all little more than dust.Life is worthless, he thought, as everything turned black...

All Reapers of Utiolth can become beings of utter darkness, that kill all who behold them, as they behold the absolute futility of existence and simply collapse dead. Everybody who can see the Reaper must make a DC 25 Will save or die. If they survive or if they are ressurected, they forget whatever they saw.

Aura of Doom (Su)

All Reapers have an Aura of Doom on them. Turning this aura on or off is a free action, but they may not have it on during the same time as they have their Fear Aura on. When the Aura of Doom is on, any none-Evil subject within 60 feet must take a Will save at DC 30 every round or they are trapped in helpless awe at the Reaper of Utiolth and are unable to do anything that round.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will—greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds of objects only), animate dead, slay living , blink; 1/day— inflict critical wounds, finger of death, create greater undead, the End of Flesh. Caster level 21st. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
