Looking like part crocodile, part whale and all terrifying these hold overs from the Late Jurassic era are the literal embodiment of nightmare fuel for sailors of the deep sea. Larger then nearly anything that is comes across the Pliosaurus are a true apex predator. With its large crocodile head full of uneven teeth it sees anything smaller then it as prey including smaller sailing vessels and is known to come up from the bottom with frightening speeds to crush small craft in its gaping maw or to ram larger vessels trying to capsize them, then feeding on the creatures that fall into the water. Unintelligent by nature it’s driven only to eat enough to fuel its enormous body. Don’t let its size fool you however its large muscular frame is propelled by 4 large flippers similar to those of sea turtles, and using its tail like a rudder for added maneuverability. These aquatic dinosaurs are fast, deadly, and always hungry. However, if brought down the meat is quite edible like that of an alligator, with its size the amount of meat harvested could feed almost an entire village for a season. Combined with the quality of its hide to make natural armor and its bones and teeth to make tools and weapons if the group is large enough sometimes it’s worth the risk. |
