Noctem Aeternam (3.5e Spell)
3e Summary::This spells was forged by the great wyrm skull dragons of the warm marshes, its intended use was to bring eternal night to the world. Thus the name: Noctem Aeternam, which means Eternal Darkness. But that was not to be. The great warriors of Lunia, the lowest layer of Mt. Celestia, came down from their silver heaven to stop them. There was a great war fought in the sky, halfway between the heavens and Earth. The skull dragons attempted to defeat the warriors during a full eclipse, but the moment the sun came out, since the dragons were accustomed to the dark, they burned. Not all of the skull dragons were killed, and many still roam the Earth today, seeking the opportunity to strike their revenge...

Once the warriors of Lunia defeated the skull dragons, they could not destroy the spell. It was too powerful. And so they hid it, where no one would find it...
So you found it? Good job! But it has been buried for millenniums. Its no where near as strong as it used to be. But its not a complete waste.
The darkness almost works the same as blacklight. The caster creates an area of total darkness. The darkness is impenetrable to normal vision and darkvision, but the caster can see normally within the blacklit area. Creatures outside the spell’s area, except for the caster, cannot see through it.
The darkness works almost as a fluid, seeping into every crack, and flowing to fit into any space within the area. So if you are in a small room in a dungeon, the darkness will leak out the open door and fill the dungeon.
When the caster is in the darkness, he will gain +2 to all his stats and all his rolls. He will also gain 3 hit points every round. But if the caster steps unto sunlight within 24 hours of using the spell, he will get -2 on all his stats and receive -1 hit point every round.
The spell can be cast on a point in space, but the effect is stationary cast on a mobile object. A character can cast the spell on a creature, and the effect then radiates from the creature and moves as it moves. Unattended objects and points in space do not get saving throws or benefit from spell resistance.
Blacklight counters or dispels any light spell of equal or lower level. The 3rd-level cleric spell daylight counters or dispels blacklight.
Spit of the caster into the eye of another will allow them to see in a 10-foot radius, but it will also do 1d4 damage.
Child of Darkness feat will also work on this spell, giving it x2 radius and duration.
Whenever the spell is used, everyone in the darkness will hear this poem at the same time. Almost as if it was being whispered into their ears.
The silver moon is full,
the far-off stars are bright,
yet deep is the darkness
of this silent night.
Dark clouds suddenly form,
hiding all the light.
Sinister shadows fall,
obscuring all from sight.
Then, cloaked in blackness,
something evil comes fourth.
As heartless as a stone,
and as cold as the north.
It rises into the sky
on great silent wings,
gone to spread fear and death
among all helpless beings.
Its true form can't be seen
by any human eye.
Except maybe in the end,
when it is time for us to die.
It has always been with us,
ever since the day of the Fall.
Lurking within the shadows,
seeking to claim us all.
It is continuously watching us,
and our darkest desires it learns.
Sharing with us its agony,
because its soul forever burns.
The shadow dragon is just one
of its many twisted forms.
It can be a devil too,
with razor-sharp black horns.
Its name is legion
and it has many faces.
It schemes and plans
in all dark places.
It hungers longing
after human life.
It smiles gleefully
at human strife.
It lurks deep within every human heart. Waiting for the chance to tear our souls apart.
Some of us will pray and fight, turning our hearts again toward the Light , when the dread shadow dragon comes silently out of our soul's dark night.
But some of us will bow before this Beast, and sit with him at his unholy feast. Raising blood-filled glasses with a grin, to toast a world of madness, chaos, and sin.
- And then a loud maniacal laugh
But non of this is coming from the caster.
