Night Fury (3.5e Creature)

Night Furies are not natural creatures and were created by the wizard-turned demigod Luth. It is said that despite it's smaller size, these dragons are capable of wrestling with Great Wyrms.

This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Seems to be trying to adapt the type of dragon of the same name from Dreamwork's How to Train Your Dragon series but seems to have some problems that need to be worked out.

More information...

A Night Fury is a large draconic creature with pitch black leathery scales. They are friendly and curious creatures, but will ruthlessly pursue their foes if provoked. Unlike other dragons, they possess retractable teeth. These teeth are usually pulled back, giving it an innocent look, but are quickly revealed when threatened. Night Furies prefer to hunt at night, to take advantage of their black scales.

Combat

Night Furies prefer to snatch their prey, taking them up to great heights before dropping them, only to catch them. They will repeat this process until they grow bored letting their quarry fall to its death, before swooping down to collect its meal. When fighting, Night Furies will keep their distance in the air and utilize their breath weapon.

Snatch(Ex): On a successful bite, a Night Fury can initiate a grapple with a medium or smaller creature. When in flight, the Night Fury may then fling the creature 1d6x10ft away. The creature will then take and takes 1d6 damage per 10 ft. travelled, or fall distance, which ever is greater. The Original wears a Collar of Ogres, allowing it to Snatch Large Creatures as well.)

Night's Fury (Ex): As a standard action, A Night Fury may breathe a blast of energy at targets within 400 feet. This blast explodes in a 5 ft. radius spread, dealing 20d10 of force damage.
