After losing control from an intense moment of internal weakness, Kurama is able to wrest control from Naruto, turning his body into a killing machine. If he enters this form, he can not leave it until he becomes unconscious or Kurama decides to give him control again, which rarely happens. If he stays in this form for more than 10 minutes, he dies and Kurama is released onto the world once more.
