Lesser Wish (5e Spell)

Lesser Wish
7th-level Conjuration (ritual)
Casting time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous

Lesser Wish is the weaker spell of wish.

Abilities

The basic use of this spell is to duplicate any other spell of 6th level or lower that has a casting time of 1 action. You don't need to meet any requirements in that spell, including costly components. The spell simply takes effect. Alternatively, you can create one of the following effects of your choice:

- You create one object of up to 10,000 gp in value that isn't a magic item. The object can be no more than 100 feet in any dimension, and it appears in an unoccupied space you can see on the ground.

- You allow up to ten creatures that you can see to regain hit points equal to half of their maximum hit points, and you end all effects on them described in the lesser restoration spell.

- You grant up to five creatures that you can see resistance to a damage type you choose. This resistance lasts for 1d4 hours.

- You grant up to five creatures you can see advantage on a single spell or other magical effect for 4 hours. If the creatures would already have advantage, they gain a +5 bonus to the saving throw instead, For instance, you could give yourself and all your companions advantage versus a lich's life drain attack.

You might be able to achieve something beyond the scope of the above examples. State your wish to the DM as precisely as possible. The DM has great latitude in ruling what occurs in such an instance; the greater the wish, the greater the likelihood that something goes wrong. This spell might simply fail, the effect you desire might only be partly achieved, or you might suffer some unforeseen consequence as a result of how you worded the wish. The stress of casting this spell to produce any effect other than duplicating another spell weakens you. After enduring that stress, each time you cast a spell until you finish a long rest, you take 1d8 necrotic damage per level of that spell. This damage can't be reduced or prevented in any way. In addition, your Strength drops to 5, if it isn't 5 or lower already, for 1d4 days. For each of those days that you spend resting and doing nothing more than light activity, your remaining recovery time decreases by 1 day. Finally, there is a 15 percent chance that you are unable to cast lesser wish ever again if you suffer this stress.

Immediately after you cast this spell, no matter what you used it for, the Weave is temporarily destabilized for you. Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, the DM rolls on the Wild Magic Table and randomly determines what happens with the effect that is rolled. This chaotic feedback lasts for 1d4 days and will only subside after the 1d4 days.

gollark: It's not *that*.
gollark: It's a bit weird-sounding, but you can distinguish it well from Lua.
gollark: Tlumea?
gollark: Clearly we must fork Lua and make... Aul.
gollark: It sounds like you should just not be using those operators if your stuff behaves that oddly.
