Half Vampire (5e Race Variant)
Human Variant
The cursed progeny of a mortals embrace with the most legendary of undead beings. A half vampire—or 'Dhampire'—is a rare thing. Though not necessarily evil by nature, they hunger for living blood as well the inevitability of discovery and rejection drive many to become as twisted and hateful as one might fear.
This is a variant of the human variant and forgoes the ability to gain a feat for the traits listed below.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1.
Undead Resilience. You have advantage on saves against disease. You have resistance to necrotic damage.
Vampiric Bite. When grappling, a half vampire may bite its target dealing 1d4 slashing damage. Once they have bitten a target (from this attack, or any other source that allows a bite attack) they may spend a bonus action to drain blood dealing 1d8 additional necrotic damage, and healing themselves for the same amount.
Healing Immunity. Though a half vampire will heal wounds naturally, they are highly resistant to healing magic, due to their partially undead flesh. A half vampire regains no hit points from any Necromancy (healing), or Conjuration (healing) spells. Any other effects of healing spells (removing disease, resurrection, etc) work normally. Transmutation spells which restore hit points (the regeneration spell) work normally.
Sunlight Sensitivity. While in direct sunlight you have disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
