Far removed from the once cold shells that normally constitute a zombie. Horror Knights are the creation of both brilliant and/or mad necromancers alike. Being brought into existence through an intense study on the nature of necromancy itself and created using a ritual that lies beyond the means of armature practitioners requiring both time and several resources to complete. A corpse is normally prepared days in advance for this spell, which floods it with vast amounts of necrotic energy while the necromancer works to maintain the integrity of the body and the spirit that they've chosen to have inhabit it. Such spirits usually belong to either a favored undead that the necromancer has kept at their side for some time and in performing the final steps of the ritual. The necromancer plants this chosen spirit into a new, more powerful form. Which also increases the mental faculties of the chosen spirit, making them more self sufficient in times of need.

The Horror Knight's body is created using large, very well prepared parts, with runes of power etched into either the flesh, or even the bone of the body and then encasing the Horror Knight inside a thick metal shell of armor. Both done to protect the Horror Knight and to also help contain the necrotic energy that courses through it's body. Which has long since ceased looking like a zombie and now threatens to appear like a goliath that's been charged with necrotic energy.

Horror Knight's usually serve as body guards to their creators, or as a form of line breaker in field combat. Capable of acting beyond the normal bound of regular undead servants and can even make it's own decisions, should it become separated from it's creator, or if the creator has become incapacitated.

Undead Nature. A Horror Knight doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Creating a Horror Knight The ritual to create a Horror Knight is usually passed down from master to apprentice, or happened upon while a necromancer studies, or even experiments. Requiring 2500gp in materials such as half a pound of powdered ruby, enchanted silver thread, leather bindings and the heart of a large beast. This all comes with the necessary time to prepare the body and to have the large suit of armor constructed for it's specific size.
