Highbourne (3.5e Race)
Highbourne
Living in remote, tightly-bound village communities the Highbourne are rarely seen in what most would describe as the ‘civilized’ world. Because of this, many preconceptions and partialities shroud them. Highbourne are in essence human, but they carry in them some small amount of the angel bloodline. This is highlighted in their appearance but somewhat more in their mannerisms.
Personality
Highbourne are by nature very curious but this is contrasted by their strong moralist tempering. They are more that willing to aid all through danger and dilemmas which will often override their steadfast ethic structure in dire situations, irrelevant of circumstance of which it occurs.
Physical Description
Whilst their heritage may be greatly diluted, they display noticeable differences from full-blooded humans such as their bright piercing gazes which as folk tale dictate are able to see into the very soul of a person. Eye color can vary from icy blue to glowing green and even gold and silver - even the smallest fractional difference of bloodline concentration can have greatly differing effects on the resultant traits. Paler features coupled with bright almost flamboyant hair colors do not allow them to easily blend into crowds. Their build, height and stature is otherwise indistinguishable from that of a true human.
Highbourne reach adulthood at 17 years and can live to be well over 200 years old
Relations
Highbourne make very willing companions to all that they might believe themselves to benefit. Becoming the 'conscience' or 'moral voice' However are less than tolerant to all those they see as unrighteous including Rogues, some Bards but most especially Blackguards – whom Highbourne detest above all other. They will however with unfaltering determination and sincerity attempt to dissuade those whom they believe as unjust from their current paths.
Alignment
Highbourne are either of lawful or good alignments but not necessarily both.
Lands
Highbourne congregate to form small open villages in remote regions, generally at some altitude such as cliff edges or mountain ranges. They have no true home or borders to distinguish their land from that of any other kingdom as their numbers are too small and also due to a lack of any organized armed forces.
Religion
Highbourne are raised to be devout, morally guided individuals whom serve one deity from birth to final breath. Their deity is quintessential to their endeavors as a Cleric or as a Paladin for they structure their lives on that of their deity’s dogma. Heironeous, god of Valor is particularly popular amongst Highbourne as his teachings coincide almost perfectly with the type of loyalty, gallantry and strength of will expected of any Highbourne.
Language
They speak the languages of Common and Celestial but do not possess the tongues ability as their full angelic ancestors once did. However, their heritage allows them to converse with those of good disposition from the other planes.

Another distinctive quality of the Highbourne is their choice of names, being always after virtues then followed by the family name – which are taken from their old human ancestors
