Dogma

Why do we loathe Hades more than any god, if not because he is so adamantine and unyielding? - Agamemnon

Hades is often mislabeled as an antagonistic and wrathful god -- Hades is actually more altruistically inclined.

However, he is cold, stern, and gives all his subjects equal treatment in regards to his laws. His role often being to maintain relative balance.

Clergy and Temples

The Clergy of Hades wear pure Black Cloth. The Holy Symbols of any Cleric of Hades are always made from pure Gold even those of the lowest ranks. Clerics, and citizens alike, are reluctant to swear oaths in his name. Black animals, such as sheep, are sacrificed to Hades; the blood from all sacrifices are dripped into a pit or cleft in the ground, the person who offers the sacrifice has to avert their face.

Since to many, simply to say the word "Hades" is frightening, euphemisms have come into use. The Temples of Hades, Nekromanteion, are always located near a city's burial grounds or cemetery. Every civilized town has a temple devoted to Hades, where the faithful come to talk with the departed.
