Gund, The Earth (3.5e Deity)

Dogma

To work with stone and metal is to sculpt the raw strength of The Sleeping God. Every bit of stone, every vein of gold and every precious gem was once alive with divine power.

Clergy and Temples

Gund doesn't actively pursue worshipers, but he does gain followers. Dwarves in particular often build small shrines to Gund in their mines to pray for the safety of their tunnels and for protection against the horrors that lurk deep within the earth. Though, among professionals who deal with earth (or materials from it), many miners, gemcutters, farmers, metalworkers and architects often pay homage to Gund.

Often, a simple bit of praise, such as drawing a square in the sand and saying a short prayer before work at the beginning of the workday, is all most folk will bother with.

Temples of Gund show up on occasion as guilds founded for the study of geology. These temples often serve as fortresses and strongholds as well in time of crisis, built from solid stone and superior craftsmanship.
