Many creatures found within Batheron's Heel don't have less abnormal relatives, and Garold's Glandthrower is a prime example. The Obscurae Praemorgani, despite being a completely biological creature, shares much more in common with fantastical creatures, such as the gibbering mouther and shoggoths. It's appearance, while bizarre, is not it's strangest characteristic. Sporting the torso of a humanoid and four, clawed feet, and muscular arms, it is certainly a sight to behold. The chest also features a massive, almost head to waist mouth, lined with sharp teeth. A few, seemingly randomly appearing, bright yellow eyes appear. However, the strangeness goes beyond its rough skinned surface, as the chest cavity it has for a mouth are three, fairly delicate glands. These glands are loosely connected to the insides of the mouth, and nothing else. Due to this, the glandthrower can easily take them out and preform its namesake. One of these is full of acid, which breaks open and dissolves on impact, another full of loose keratin and a gas, which explodes on contact with oxygen. Both of these it uses with relative efficiency to take out distant targets, whether predators or prey. The final gland is full of a strange, purple liquid which immediately enhances the glandthrower's already impressive regenerative abilities. Of course, ripping out these glands would be rather ineffective in the long term, however, their potent regeneration allows this to be a viable strategy. Most of this is concentrated on the recreations of glands, so the rest of the body does not regenerate quite as fast. Of course, the regenerative gland rectifies this problem for a short time. Besides their physical strangeness, is a relatively high intelligence for an animal found on Batheron's Heel. Comparative to ancient humans, they are rather social with each other, even if normally solitary. While never utilizing tools, they do often find themselves in the company of smaller, less dangerous animals. They almost always don't attack human and thri-manipulus patrols either, a very bizzare attitude held by a significantly low amount of creatures found on Batheron's Heel. |
