The fox'smanuh are creatures that resemble foxes stretched into long, serpentine bodies. They are able to stand up straight and leave a good deal of tail behind them, and still have an imposing height over any average human. Their bodies are extremely limber and can wag in intricate coils with fluid motion like snakes. Thick fur covers their bodies. This fur can be any color a normal fox has. On their face, they usually have thick whiskers, and on their tail, bushy fur. Like normal foxes, they have sharp teeth, claws, and a mischievous expression often times. Unlike a normal fox, however, they sport horns.
History
Due to their unusual shape, fox'smanuh have often been likened to that of furry snakes or eastern dragons, like the shen long. They are incredibly long lived and have appeared in sightings about many historical manuscripts, often as conmen. As history goes, they masquerade as heralds of fortunes, and snake oil salesmen, among other things. With their handy use of trickery and illusory magic, this is no hard feat for them. Their witty speeches and regaling appearance buoys their audiences into buying into their scams, which usually collect heavy fees like indulgences or donations to prevent disaster. After they reaped their fill, they will usually quickly be off before their ruse can be discovered. No one ever sees a fox'smanuh when it does not want to be seen.
There is a particular story of a female fox'smanuh which fell in love with a human monk. This monk did not fear nor despise the fox'smanuh for her nature. She often visited him daily and watched his daily schedules. But it was not meant to be, for monk perished at the hands of a greedy burgermeister, who tore a piece of the monk's soul, so he could never be whole again. The monk withered until the day he just dropped dead suddenly. The fox'smanuh went mad with rage and devoted all her magic to attaining revenge. She lavished herself, changing her form to that of a ravishing prostitute, throwing herself at the burgermeister's feet. The foolish man whet his appetite and sunk his ravenous lust into her. He became so enamored with her under her charm that he promised her anything. She commanded he burn all his property, his wives, his houses, his servants, and even his clothes. He did all this willingly, thinking only of his pending reward. When he was done, standing naked before the vixen in human skin, he waited for her embrace. She sunk her teeth in his face and blinded him, running off with his eyes. He was left a blind and broken man for the rest of his days.
It is said a fox'smanuh scorned is a curse born to be bore.
Society
Fox'smanuh are one of the wilier creatures to walk the land. Though it can be funny to think of how one walks with a bulge in their back due to the long bodies they have, it is best not to think that around them. Fox'smanuh are successful con men because they know well how to read crowds and expose insecurities. In times of danger, some older fox'smanuh can actually take to the skies like a real dragon. They know the best tricks to tow lines, but also keep alive. Foolery is their best tool. Those who mess with them are said to already have shortened lifespans. An air of mystique ultimately surrounds them. They do not always lie, but instead speak half-truths.
