The fell beasts were described as large, winged creatures without feathers. Its pinions were in between horned fingers; and its body gave off a stench and fell beasts were powerful creatures and were deadly offensive predators, especially with the black riders on them. They could choose either to bite their prey (less attacking radius but increased damage) or swoop down on them (larger attacking radius), scattering enemies apart or outright crushing them. If a fell beast snatched a soldier, it could easily fly high into the air and drop its helpless victim to his death far below. Fell beasts were feared for their ferocity and speed.

Aerial Hunters. A fell beast doesn't fight on the ground unless it can't reach its prey by any other means, or if it has been fooled into a position from which aerial combat isn't an option. If forced into a confrontation on the ground, they will snap and swing tail or wings at you.

Tamed Fell Beasts. A fell beast can be tamed for use as a mount, but doing so presents a difficult and deadly challenge. Raising one as a hatchling offers the best results. However, a fell beast's violent temperament has cost the life of many a would-be master. But they do not harm the Black Riders. You must also be Chaotic neutral to any evil to tame a fell beast.

gollark: ... that makes no sense that wouldn't even work.
gollark: Dunbar's number is 150 or so - humans can have meaningful social relationships with 150 or so people, apparently. Many systems require larger-scale coordination than this.
gollark: ... so we can have technology?
gollark: Communal thinking works for small close-knit communities. But that obviously does not scale.
