False Elf (5e Race)

False Elf

I lieth not, for we are elves. See'th thee not our ears?

Physical Description

By Yanied

False elves are creatures that pretty much resemble elves outwardly. Their eyes are usually green or a golden yellow. Their hair is long and thin, and their ears are pointed like elves. Like elves, they have high cheekbones and a graceful, sleek build for dexterous movement. One can tell the difference in that their nails are a bit too long, and their eyes have the slant like that of a serpent or feline. Additionally, their teeth in the back of the mouth are quite sharp, and their tongue comes to a distinct point. Also, they age faster than elves, and get quite gaunt and ugly when they do. Some say their true nature is revealed as they get skeletal, with diseased looking skin and a demonic face. This is exacerbated when they are prepared to devour prey, as their jaws can open very wide due to the skin of their mouths being flexible.

History

False elves are actually a kind of humanoid thought to originate among the monstrous side of the spectrum like hobgoblins, goblins and other goblinoids. They evolved to have this elvish appearance in the same way some insects use mimicry to close in on prey. Many have joined hands with the orcs in the past, acting as assassins in their wars against elvenkind. They would usually pose as wounded elves and sneak into the citadels and homes before murdering their hosts. As their kills got alarmingly close to the hierarchy top, elves began to be very suspicious of each other. False elves played pivotal roles in sowing discord among elves. Eventually, some elves just thought to try and inspect everyone for certain physical abnormalities to root out the odd ones. False elves became much less active after.

Society

False elves are rather few among goblinoids and monstrous humans. They usually live among the war camps of hobgoblins or an area set aside for goblinoids in an orc camp. A good number of false elves find Gruumsh, the orc god, attractive, and so scar one eye to show their allegiance. Other false elves remain faithful to Maglubiyet despite the rise of Black Lord Bane. These two rivaling factions of false elves drives a split in their community, because Maglubiyet does not like the orcish followers of Gruumsh. However, since the Spellplague and the waning of the exarch, the two sides have managed to uneasily reconcile somewhat.

False elves believe that elves are the bane of all existences. They hate and want to kill all of them, out of all the fey in the world. Some are more sadistic, and like to kidnap women and children to torture and rape. False elves also like to eat elves, unlike goblinoids. Goblins usually take slaves. False elves do as well, but only of elves. It is said that, to get a false elf moving, all one need do is tell them an elf is around.

Personality

False elves are naturally born and bred hunters, specified in their prey. They love to show their most horrific and sadistic sides to helpless elves in their torment. To others, they show indifference. Other humanoids or fey do not elicit much reaction from them, and false elves find them bland like a beige background. However, their zeal for elven slaughter is unparalleled even among the brutes of orcs or scheming goblins. They love to be up close and personal to enjoy the kills and chases. As they are mimicry hunters, false elves are excellent liars and very studious of their subjects to avoid slip ups and discovery.

False Elf Names

False elves usually use the gendered names of elves for an alias. Their true name is a mix of monstrous dialects and lacks gender.
