An emela-ntouka in a defensive stance by User:Dinomaster337

Emela-ntouka is the name given to a large, rhinocerine mammal known to inhabit warm, tropical rain forests. Growing to the size of an elephant with a single, long horn atop its head, these beasts are respected by native peoples and are not to be trifled with by just any adventuring party.

Lakeside Lumberer. While not an innately aquatic creature, emela-ntouka are found most commonly not far from the water's edge. They are known to feed on the succulent water plants beneath the surface and wallow in the mud. They guard this territory with feverish aggression but otherwise tend to leave most people alone.

Pachyderm Aversion. The name "Emela-Ntouka" means "Elephant Killer" and the creature lives up to this reputation. For whatever reason, emela-ntouka have a primal hatred of elephants and actively hunt down any nearby. The territory of an emela-ntouka is marked by the gored corpses of elephants littered throughout the jungle.
