Keen Smell. The rat has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Pack Tactics. The rat has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the rat's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The rat makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.

Strong and extremely large, dread rats are opportunistic omnivores that can eat almost anything. They prefer to eat easy meals, such as carcasses left by predators, but a pack of dread rats might hunt a flock of sheep or lone humanoid. Dread rats only attack dangerous creatures, such as bears and wolves, if they feel they have a distinct advantage. Some goblinoids keep dread rats as pets or hunting companions, though they can be trained as pack animals and mounts.

Variant: Diseased Dread Rats

Some dread rats carry vile diseases that they spread with their bites. A diseased dread rat has a challenge rating of 1 (200 XP) and the following action instead of its normal bite attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or contract a disease. Until the disease is cured, the target can't regain hit points except by magical means, and the target's hit point maximum decreases by 3 (1d6) every 24 hours. If the target's hit point maximum drops to 0 as a result of this disease, the target dies.

gollark: Not without an extension.
gollark: How are concepts different to interfaces?
gollark: It would be neat if it came up with its own self-consistent system of arithmetic in which that worked and all other operations also did, but alas.
gollark: Yes, this is known.
gollark: Forth < osmarkslisp™, yes.
