Rod, rarity varies

Sometimes referred to as a divining rod, they enable their user to locate a specific resource in the world around them. Traditional dowsing rods were constructed from a Y shaped branch which would, when grasped by the two splayed ends, tug towards the nearest source of water. Since their inception, dowsing rods have been constructed from a variety of materials in the hopes of divining for other, more sort after resources such as precious metals and gemstones. As you may imagine dowsing rods are a particularly sort after magical item, especially by dwarves, however, this had lead to the construction of numerous fake dowsing rods, sold to gullible prospectors in exchange for exorbitant prices across the real.


The type of wood from which the rod is made dictates the resource to which it points as listed in the table below.
