Dimensional Core

Dimensional core's are beings granted an ethereal state by the Celestial Order. Their presence holds together dimensions and the flow of souls between dimensions. Their main purpose is to prevent and/or hunt down distortions. They are capable of manipulating space-time but are limited to the boundaries of the dimension in which they are inhabiting. Lack of adherence to the boundaries can have catastrophic repercussions.

Creating a Dimensional Core

Quick Build

You can make a Dimensional Core quickly by following these suggestions. First, Wisdom should be your highest ability score, followed by Intelligence. Second, choose the Explorer background.

Class Features

As a Dimensional Core you gain the following class features.

Hit Points

Hit Dice: 1d6 per Dimensional Core level
Hit Points at 1st Level: 1d6 + Constitution modifier
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d6 (or 4) + Constitution modifier per Dimensional Core level after 1st

Proficiencies

Armor: Light
Weapons: Simple Melee Weapons, All Ranged Weapons.
Tools: Pocket Dimension
Saving Throws: Intelligence and Constitution
Skills: Choose three from Arcana, History, Insight, and Investigation.

Equipment

You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your background:

  • (a) A dungeoneer's pack or (b) An explorer's pack

Ability Score Improvement

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Illusion

Starting at level 1 you are capable of manipulating space-time to create an illusion that distracts all creatures within 30 feet.

Level 1

“An elaborate distraction that lasts 5 minutes. 1 use per long rest. Causes user to become dizzy for 1d4 turns.”

Level 2

“An elaborate distraction that lasts 15 minutes. 1 use per long rest. Causes user to become dizzy for 1d4 turns.”

Level 3

“An elaborate distraction that lasts 30 minutes. 2 use per long rest. Causes user to become dizzy for 1d4 turns.”

Level 4

“An elaborate distraction that lasts 45 minutes. 3 use per long rest. Causes user to become dizzy for 1d4 turns.”

“An elaborate distraction that lasts 60 minutes. 5 use per long rest. Causes user to become dizzy for 1 turn.”

Multiclassing


Prerequisites. To qualify for multiclassing into the Dimensional Core class, you must meet these prerequisites: 15 Wisdom.

Proficiencies. When you multiclass into the Dimensional Core class, you gain the following proficiencies: Light armor, Pocket Dimension.

gollark: When I was working on an unrelated thing I found a bunch of plausibly-workable papers about indoor localization using ultrasound.
gollark: You can also get these very accurate UWB position sensor things, or theoretically use ultrasound.
gollark: ANTARCTIC OBSCURITY is theoretically capable of localization if you have multiple receivers with either very accurate synchronized clocks (doubtful) or (if you don't mind noise and/or manual data gathering) signal strength readings.
